Transit Development Plan 2008-2014
A public hearing on the 2008 through 2014 Transit Development Plan (TDP) will be held to receive public testimony at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2007, in the Council Chambers, City of Spokane, 808 West Spokane Falls Blvd., Spokane, Washington, 99201. Written comments should be sent to the Spokane Transit Authority Planning Department, 1230 West Boone Avenue, Spokane, WA 99201.

2008-2014 Transit Development Plan
The TDP contains forecasts of operating and capital plans based on estimates of currently available revenues. Spokane Transit’s currently available revenues are comprised of sales tax, operating revenues from fares, and miscellaneous revenues from interest. The Transit Development Plan outlines Spokane Transit Authority goals, objectives, standards and capital improvement program for the years 2008-2014 by:
• Providing a description of the organizational structure and the services provided.
• Providing a description of the capital and financial programs and projects that are planned for the years 2008-2014.
• Discussing Spokane Transit Authority’s passenger amenities program, the transportation services provided, and what is planned for these services in the next seven years.
• Providing an overview of the long-range issues and challenges facing Spokane Transit Authority and the affects they may have on future operations.
• Containing several appendices outlining current facilities and equipment, requirements, standards and processes under which Spokane Transit Authority operates, and provides a glossary of public transportation terms.

Proposed Service Enhancements
The Spokane Transit Board of Directors will hold a public hearing to receive testimony on proposed draft conceptual service enhancements, which are the basis for service changes anticipated to begin September 2007.
The public hearing will take place on April 19, 2007, at 5:30 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, 808 W. Spokane Falls Boulevard, Spokane, Washington, 99201.

Proposed Service Enhancment Details
THE NORTH EXPRESS – This new commuter route will provide limited stop service from Spokane’s North side (Hastings Park and Ride) to downtown along Monroe Street.
AIRPORT LOOP/ROUTE 64 – The proposal is to provide direct Airport service from downtown by splitting that service off from Route 64. Route 64 would be realigned to better serve the employment centers.
INCREASE PARKING IN LIBERTY LAKE – The proposal is to acquire additional parking capacity in the Liberty Lake area and eventually increase service to 15 minute frequency.
MEDICAL LAKE - RE-ALIGN ROUTE 62 - The proposal is to acquire additional parking capacity at the I-90/Medical Lake Interchange (Exit 272) and realign Route 62 to serve the Interchange. Service to the Medical Lake area will remain the same as today.
WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS PILOT PROGRAM – The proposal is to install Internet access on six, 60-foot buses so passengers can use their laptop computers on their trips.
ADD EARLY MORNING SERVICE – The proposal is to add one additional early morning trip to arrive downtown by 5:45 am on Routes 23, 45, 73, and Airport & North Express (if adopted).
