What is RSS?
RSS (most commonly referred to as "Really Simple Syndication") is used to publish frequently updated internet material. An RSS document includes full or summarized text. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place.
What is an RSS Reader?
When you subscribe to an RSS feed through a browser, that feed will appear in the 'Feeds" tab under "Favorites". RSS feeds can also be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based, desktop-based, or mobile-device-based. STA doesn't endorse the use of any one reader, but a list of popular ones can be viewed here.
RSS Feeds and Outlook
Outlook can be configured to read RSS Feeds and display a notification when new content is available. Just right-click on the RSS Feeds folder in your Outlook Mailbox and choose "Add a New RSS Feed..." then add the address to the feed you want Outlook to monitor (you can copy and paste the URL or manually type in the address of the feed).
