Spokane Transit Authority (STA) is seeking applications for a critical position in the Fixed Route Operations Department. Ideal candidate will be a leader with integrity and commitment to the transparency required to retain the community’s trust. S/he will have a positive attitude and commitment to principles of safety, quality, and customer service. Experience in a union environment is desired. The position reports to the Director of Operations.
The Transportation Manager will plan, direct coordinate and manage the Fixed Route transportation’s functions and assist with and coordinate major capital purchases of vehicles and equipment. Also responsible for administrative control and supervision of a large number of employees through subordinate managers and supervisors. Must ensure compliance with Federal Transit Administration and other regulations.
Minimum requirements: BA/BS or equivalent and specialized or technical training that may be obtained in vocational courses or on-the-job experience. Seven years of progressively more responsible experience related to operations, transit preferred, including a minimum of three years experience in a supervisory capacity.
Spokane Transit is a regional public transportation agency that provides Fixed Route (bus), Paratransit and Vanpool services in Spokane County and the cities of Spokane, Spokane Valley, Cheney, Medical Lake, Airway Heights, Liberty Lake and Millwood; and has more than 500 employees and an operating budget of $58M (2011). Spokane Transit has 146 buses operating on 33 routes.
