DETOUR: Route 9-Sprague

DETOUR UPDATE: MARCH 31, 2026, 5:00 P.M.

Effective at the start of the service day on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Route 9–Sprague’s outbound detour to STA Valley Transit Center will no longer travel along E. Fifth Avenue.

The updated outbound detour will use E. Third Avenue, continue north on S. Havana Street, and reconnect with E. Sprague Avenue, returning to its regular route to STA Valley Transit Center.

Temporary bus stops will be located at E. Third Avenue & S. Freya Street and E. Third Avenue & S. Florida Street.

The map below has been updated to reflect the changes to the Route 9-Sprague detour.

Route 9–Sprague will be on detour beginning Monday, March 30, 2026, due to a City of Spokane construction project scheduled through mid-June.

All bus stops along E. Sprague Avenue between N. Freya Street and S. Custer Road will be closed during construction.

Outbound Detour Route

Departing from STA Plaza, Route 9–Sprague will travel east on E. Sprague Avenue, south on S. Thor Street, east on E. Third Avenue, north on S. Havana Street, east on E. Second Avenue, north on S. Custer Road, and east on E. Sprague Avenue, returning to its regular route toward STA Valley Transit Center.

    • Third and Florida, outbound to STA Valley Transit Center
    • Custer and Sprague, outbound to STA Valley Transit Center

Inbound Detour Route

Departing from STA Valley Transit Center, Route 9–Sprague will travel west on E. Sprague Avenue, south on S. Custer Road, west on E. Third Avenue/E. Second Avenue (street name changes from Third to Second after crossing S. Havana Street), north on S. Ray Street, west on E. Sprague Avenue, returning to its regular route toward STA Plaza.
