Spokane Transit has launched a redesigned website with better viewing on mobile devices, expanded search capabilities, enhanced accessibility tools, and a new interface for routes and schedule information. The site also boasts easy viewing of active and upcoming detours.
Mobile device integration is a key component of the site architecture, with more than 80% of STA’s web traffic coming from mobile phones. After over a year of development the new website spent six weeks in Beta mode, where feedback was collected from the public and STA staff.
“We examined every aspect of our web traffic and interviewed various groups to determine what steps we needed to take to make using our website a better experience,” said Chris Tohm, STA’s Web Services Manager. “Then we worked to design a model that not only provides a great user experience now, but can also be expanded upon as we identify future needs.”
The next phase of development is already in the works and includes the addition of real-time bus information, next-bus notifications and automated alerts for subscribers.
STA will continue to seek public feedback on the new site. Users can use the feedback tab on the site or send an email using the “Help & Support” link.
